Originally built in the late 1800’s the building was constructed as a Renaissance Revival-style building by Meyer and Etta Brinkley Cohen. The Etta Loft is located inside the historic Cohen Building. The entire loft is made up of over 3,000+ square foot living space.The couple owned a lucrative jewelry shop on the first floor and occupied the top two levels as their lavish downtown residence. Mrs. Cohen lived and entertained here from the time of her marriage in 1897 until 1930 at the time of her death. She was well known around Nashville for her extravagant parties.
