Original Log Cabin At Entrance To Custer State Park Overlooking Stockade Lake The original cabin was built circa 1930, and remains true to this day to it's beginnings; however some years later the kitchen, bath and bedroom were added to offer more space and the modern conveniences. The log walls in the living room are chinked with real buffalo hide and all the décor pays homage to the history and settling of the area. We have displayed a collection of Indian related items and artwork, as well as memorabilia of the old west, homesteading, hunting and trapping...all of which were a part of Black Hills history. The cabin sits on several acres, sharing a border with Forest Service, and only about 1500 ft. from the entrance to Custer State Park, one of the largest state parks in the USA. The large living room's focal point is a beautiful, native rock arched fireplace with a gas log to take the chill off on cool evenings as well as contribute to the cozy ambiance.
