We're on the coast, so there's lots of water-related activities!!Our home is located in the area called Down East, which is part of the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway. The area was chosen due to the natural landscape and, specifically, the community-based culture of the thirteen communities that comprise Down East. Beach area is within 1/2 mile offering opportunity to enjoy water sports. Located on the shore of Harkers Island is a nice stretch of beach enjoyed by many locals and visitors. It is very kid-friendly with a beautiful shoreline. Parking is limited, so get there early!! Kayak rentals are available 1/8 of a mile from our house at Down East Kayaks. Rates are very reasonable.
