The cabin was originally a one room hunting cabin with a fireplace and a wood burning stove. The cabin pre-dated the lake and sat about a mile away from the Ouachita River on a ridge above Stokes Creek. When the Carpenter Dam was finished in 1931 forming Lake Hamilton, the little hunting cabin, was fortunately located well above the water line, thus becoming a lakefront property.
