Privacy was paramount when we discovered our magical, waterfront property in 2016. We still remain enchanted by the tropical romance of our secret by the sea. Just minutes from the Gulf of Mexico, our tranquil setting is also home to dolphins (we spot them daily in the tidal waters of the Imperial River)—and to the manatees that quietly surface to snort into the ocean air. Our little peninsula provides a treasured escape from the everyday, especially because of its unique,180-degree view of the river, and across the river to the lush green preserve at Bonita Bay. The preserve provides a habitat for an abundance of birds, including the once-endangered and much-beloved osprey. But the favorite amenities of Bonita Springs—Barefoot Beach and Bonita Beach—also beckon us for beach walks when we wish to get away.
