Harking back to this quaint river-town's lumber era, the 1898 homes are currently cared for by a non-profit dedicated to preserving the estate and keeping the structures a landmark space for local history. The buildings at Linden Hill are listed on the national register for historic places and the two largest homes (aka "the mansions") were designed by Minnesota architect Clarence H. Johnston who's notable work is also enjoyed at the Glensheen mansion in Duluth and along Summit Avenue in St. Paul.
