Nenana is also known for its rich history of being a historic Alaska Railroad town, Alaska native Athabaskan village and dog mushing town where the serum run began. In the winters, you can catch a ride with a local musher, view Denali on clear days, or view the Aurora when it’s out and dancing! The lookout on the lodge property is where President Harding came to drive the Golden Spike at the completion of the Alaska Railroad. Visit the Historic Railroad Museum (during the summer season) in the town below to learn more about the history of the railroad.
