PLEASE READ: Bear Valley is a special place in the winter - most roads are closed to cars and groomed for skiers and snowmobiles. This means you cannot drive directly to the cabin. The cabin is a 20 minute walk from parking (just over a 1/2 mile), mostly on groomed snow. There is a nice shortcut we call the "cut through"- that makes the walk much shorter - it is sometimes easy to navigate, but after a fresh snow, it may require snowshoes.If you have never visited Bear Valley in winter, please count on hiring the local snowmobile taxi for your initial trip into the cabin and for when you leave. We will leave at least one pair of adult and one pair of kid snowshoes at the cabin for you to explore while you visit.
