The Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Appalachian State University, Sugar Mountain, Hawksnest, Grandfather Mountain, and Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and many other High Country attractions are all convenient to Deerest Cabin. The beautiful New River is located just 25 minutes from the cabin in the quaint town of Todd, and Todd Island Park is just 20 minutes away situated on the South Fork of the New River. The park is a part of the North Carolina Mountain Heritage Trout Waters making it a great place for fishing. There is a mile-long hiking trail around the perimeter of the park,
