Full length covered porches and plenty of comfortable chairs offer majestic mountain and valley views and great opportunities to enjoy our cool mountain breezes.Because of the 4200+ feet elevation we recommend 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles for visits during November thru February. The state keeps Highway 143 fairly clean and the county usually plows Log Cabin Lane by noonish after a snowfall but there will still be some snow on the road and of course in the driveway. Having said that, it's absolutely beautiful at The Mountain House during and after a snowfall.The Cherokee National Forest is a few hundred yards away in most directions and, as the crow flies, the Appalachian trail is less than 2 miles away.
