Venice is known as the shark tooth capital of the world due to a fossil bed located a few miles offshore. The fossil bed contributes to the black sands of the local area beaches. Fossilized shark teeth are often found on the beach, especially after a storm or during low tide. These treasures vary in size from super tiny to the awe-inspiring 6-inch Megalodon tooth.There’s plenty to see and do in this wonderful beach town. Located less than 2 miles from our condo is the infamous Sharkey’s on the Pier. This restaurant boasts good food and tropical flavors with a beachside bar vibe.
