The temperature is in the 80’s, the sky is blue, the sunsets are breathtaking, the water is warm, and the humpback whales are back. While we were able to get a glimpse of the extensive damage to the Lahaina area, we are happy to report that the Kaanapali area remains unscathed. The restaurants and shops in the Kaanapali Whaler’s Village, Honokowai, Kahana, and Kapalua are open. It is without a doubt tragic, and the charming town of Lahaina is sorely missed. We can’t help but stress that Maui is still beautiful, and this is an opportunity to explore other areas on the island. We spent time in Makawao and Paia and it reminded us of Lahaina without the ocean. Cute stores, good food and a great place for people watching. You will see that the local people are healing, and the Aloha Spirit is very much alive as the entire island welcomes the return of visitors. Relax on
